Most of us feel safe and secure in our own vehicles, so a carjacking is an incredible shock. The most important thing to remember is to step away from the car and get yourself somewhere safe. After that, you can contact local law enforcement to report the theft, and, if you have the LoJack® system installed in your vehicle, the police can activate the homing signal and find your car, truck, van or motorcycle fast- as in this case, where a carjacked Honda Accord was located in just over 90 minutes.

On June 5th, 2013, the Accord’s owner contacted San Diego Police to report that he was carjacked on 30th Street in San Diego. SDPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Honda, which was installed at Moreno Valley Honda-Hyundai in Moreno Valley, CA.

A short time later, SDPD officers picked up the homing signals from the Accord on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  The officers tracked the vehicle to 56th Street in San Diego, where it was parked and abandoned. The owner was very happy to have his undamaged Accord returned to him.
