In this case, two branches of Colorado law enforcement team up using the LoJack® system to track down a Pontiac Grand Prix taken in an armed carjacking, and recover it in a little over an hour and a half after activation.

On June 22nd, 2013, the Grand Prix’s owner called Englewood, CO police to report an armed carjacking. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Pontiac, which was installed at Hyundai of Greeley, CO.

A short while later, officers from several jurisdictions picked up homing signals from the stolen car with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  Officers with the Commerce City PD and investigators with the East Metro Auto Theft Task Force (EMATT) simultaneously tracked and stopped the Grand Prix and arrested two suspects who were also in possession of illegal drugs. The Pontiac was soon returned to its relieved owner.
