This Dallas, TX resident not only had his car stolen but was shot by the thief beforehand. The LoJack® system not only helped police track his Mercedes Benz C230, but capture the suspect and recover the weapon as well.

On June 11th, 2013, the Mercedes’ owner was approached by a suspect armed with a handgun.  The suspect demanded money and when the owner said he did not have any, he was shot in the leg and his car was taken.   The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the C230, which was installed at Park Place Motorcars in Dallas, TX.

A short while later, a Dallas Police flight crew helicopter picked up the homing signals from the Mercedes on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their helicopter. The flight officers observed the stolen car and directed ground patrol units to it. Ground officers got the C230 to stop and the suspect was arrested. The gun used in the shooting was also recovered.  The Mercedes was soon returned to its recovering owner.
