Talk about a really bad day! This Commack, Long Island, NY resident not only had her home broken into, but the thieves found the keys to her Mercury Marquis and took that also! The victim was glad she chose to have the LoJack® system installed when she purchased her Marquis, so her local police were able to recover it for with no damage.

On May 16th, 2013 the Mercury’s owner contacted the 4th Precinct in Commack to report that her vehicle was stolen from in front of her house. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle’s information into the Suffolk County stolen vehicle computer and the national stolen vehicle computer system as well. The LoJack unit concealed on the vehicle, which was installed at L&B Lincoln Mercury in West Babylon, NY, was then automatically activated.

A short time later, officers from the Brooklyn South Auto Larceny Unit picked up the homing signal from the stolen Mercury on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  They tracked it to a residential street in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, where it was recovered parked and abandoned, with no apparent damage.

The owner was elated that her vehicle was recovered so quickly, especially in excellent condition.  She further stated that she was grateful that she had LoJack installed on her vehicle when she purchased it, feeling that if it wasn’t for LoJack her vehicle may never have been recovered.
