Vehicle theft is a 24 hour crime. It can happen any time- morning, noon, or night, even at 4:20 AM when you’re just running into a convenience store for a quick minute, as the owner of this Honda Accord sadly discovered. Local police were able to recover his car for him thanks to the LoJack® system he had installed when he first purchased his car.

On June 15th, 2013, the Accord’s owner called the Hoboken Police to report that his vehicle had been stolen. The victim told police that when he stopped at the store, he left the keys in his Honda with the engine running. When he came out of the store, the car was gone. Hoboken PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the car, which was installed at Garden State Honda in Clifton, NJ, was then automatically activated.

A short time later, a patrol officer from the Jersey City Police picked up the homing signal coming from the Honda on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The officer tracked the vehicle to a parking lot on Route 440, where it had been abandoned. The undamaged Accord was soon returned to its happy owner.
