It’s a scary feeling to reach into your pocket or purse and discover your keys are no longer where you left them. Making that feeling even scarier is when you go outside and see the thief has taken your vehicle as well. This happened one Tuesday afternoon to a Long Island, NY resident who was glad she had the LoJack® system installed when she purchased her Chrysler 300, so local law enforcement was able to get it back for her in less than two hours after activation.

On June 11th, 2013, the 300’s owner contacted the Suffolk County Police 5th Precinct to report her vehicle was stolen when her keys were taken from her purse in Lake Grove, Long Island. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers (NYSPIN/ NCIC). This automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Chrysler, which was installed at Metro Chrysler Plymouth Jeep in Philadelphia, PA.

A short while later, an officer from Suffolk County’s 3rd precinct picked up the homing signals from the Chrysler on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The officer located the unoccupied vehicle parked on Pine Acres Blvd. in Bay Shore,Long Island. The undamaged 300 was soon returned to its extremely happy owner.
