This is not a great way to end a Monday- a Jersey City, NJ resident arrived home from work around 5 PM and parked his Hyundai Tiburon in his driveway. An hour and 15 minutes later, he looked out the window and his car was gone. Thanks to his local police and the LoJack® system, he did not have to wait very long to get his vehicle back- it was recovered only 33 minutes after activation!

On June 3rd, 2013, the Hyundai’s owner contacted the Jersey City Police Department to report that his vehicle had been stolen. Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Tiburon, which was installed at Hyundai of Nanuet, NY.

A very short while later, an officer from the Essex County Sheriff’s Department picked up the homing signals coming from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. He tracked the vehicle to a housing project in Newark where the vehicle was recovered undamaged. The Tiburon was soon returned to its very relieved owner.
