In this case, Dallas, Texas police and the crew of a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) helicopter join forces to retrieve a stolen Cadillac Escalade the same evening it was taken. On May 23rd, 2013, the Escalade’s owner contacted Dallas Police to report that his vehicle was stolen from an apartment complex.  Officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Escalade, which was installed at Sewell Village Cadillac in Dallas, TX.

A short while later, a Texas (DPS) helicopter picked up the homing signals from the stolen Cadillac on its on-board LoJack tracking computer. The helicopter tracked the Cadillac to an apartment complex and alerted ground units.  Ground officers set up surveillance. They observed a suspect entering the vehicle and arrested him before he could drive away. The Escalade was soon returned to its very relieved owner.
