The Portland, Oregon residents in this case went outside after breakfast one Thursday morning and discovered their Toyota Land Cruiser was missing from where it was parked the previous evening. Luckily, their SUV had the LoJack® system installed, so local law enforcement was able to recover it before lunch time, in less than two hours after activation.

On May 23rd, 2012, the SUV’s owners called Portland, OR police to report their vehicle was stolen overnight from their home. Officers verified the theft and entered the Toyota’s information into their stolen vehicle database.  This action automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the Land Cruiser, which was installed at Burt Toyota in Englewood, CO.

A short while later, Portland PD officers received the homing signal from the Land Cruiser on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  The moving vehicle was tracked by police into Vancouver, WA. With assistance from Vancouver PD, Portland officers located the vehicle at NE 55th Street & NE 68th Avenue, where it was parked and abandoned.  The Toyota was soon returned to its very happy owner.
