The LoJack® System Helps Miami, Florida Police Recover Stolen Mercedes-Benz S550

In this case, a stolen 2009 Mercedes-Benz S550 is recovered in just two hours and ten minutes after the LoJack® system is activated, and, when law enforcement arrives on the scene, they discover something extra- parts removed from another stolen vehicle as well.
On Wednesday, May 29th, 2013, the S-50’s owner contacted Miami Police to report that their vehicle was stolen from a parking space in Coconut Grove. The responding officer entered the car’s VIN (vehicle identification number) into the state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack transponder device concealed in the sedan, which was installed at Mercedes Benz of Miami, FL.
A short while later, a Miami-Dade police officer picked up the homing signal from the Mercedes on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The officer located the vehicle parked at the back of a private residence. He notified the Auto Theft Unit, who arrived and obtained consent to search. The officers entered the backyard and discovered the stolen vehicle partially disassembled, as well as parts from a 2008 Lexus stolen from Palm Beach. The suspect on site was arrested for operating a “chop shop”. The S550 was soon returned to its very relieved owner.
