In this case, a very large auto dealership in Florida can’t locate one of their customer rental vehicles, but their local law enforcement, with the help of the LoJack® System, is able to find it for them in just over an hour.

On April 15th, 2013, the dealership’s representative contacted the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office to report a 2013 Nissan Rogue SUV was missing from their premises. This particular vehicle was a rental vehicle used for their customers. The representative had spent several hours searching their property in an attempt to locate the vehicle, as well as checking their computers to determine whether it had been loaned out to a customer, but met with negative results. The responding officer entered the vehicle’s information into the state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Rogue.

A short while later, a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office auto theft detective picked up the homing signal from the Nissan on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The detective located the vehicle in the parking lot of a bank in Royal Palm Beach. The detective made contact with a subject in the bank who had the keys to the sport utility vehicle. She stated that she had brought her car in for service at the dealership and that the dealership had loaned the Rogue to her. The dealership service manager verified that the customer was in legal possession of the vehicle and that there was a mix up in the paperwork.
