- recovery stories
Having your vehicle stolen is a terrible situation in any instance- but when the culprit is someone you know, that makes it even worse. In this case, Mount Vernon, WA residents had their Hyundai Elantra stolen by an underage relative. Luckily, the Elantra was equipped with the LoJack® system, so the car could be retrieved by law enforcement in less than an hour, before any harm could come to the vehicle or its inexperienced operator.
The Hyundai was taken without permission by an underage relative of the owner sometime prior to 11:00 pm on May 20th, 2013. The owners reported it to the Mount Vernon Police, who entered the VIN (vehicle identification number) into the state and federal crime computers. That process automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Elantra, which was installed at Hyundai of Everett, WA.
A short time later, Mount Vernon PD officers received the homing signal from the Hyundai. They quickly tracked the vehicle to a gas station/fast-food restaurant parking lot. The juvenile driver was arrested and the undamaged Elantra was soon returned to its very relieved owner.
