This case features a collaboration between a town’s police force and a county sheriff’s department, utilizing the LoJack® system, to retrieve a stolen 2011 Chrysler 200 in only 17 minutes after activation

The 200 was stolen sometime in the afternoon to late evening hours of May 17th, 2013, from the owner’s residence in Tacoma. The victim contacted the Tacoma Police, who verified the theft and entered the VIN (vehicle identification number) into their state and federal crime computers. That process automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Chrysler, which was installed at Tacoma Dodge in Tacoma, WA.

A few minutes later, a Ruston Police officer and Pierce County deputies received the homing signal from the Chrysler on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. They quickly located the 200 in an apartment complex lot on South Wilton Road where it was found abandoned and undamaged. The car was soon returned to its happy owner.
