The LoJack® System Helps the Essex County, New Jersey Sheriff’s Department Recover Stolen Honda Accord

This Orange, New Jersey resident felt perfectly safe parking his Honda Accord in his driveway around 8 pm on May 20^th, 2013. The safe feeling disappeared when he noticed his vehicle missing less than 6 hours later. We’re sure he was glad that he chose to have the LoJack® system installed when he purchased his Honda, to assist his local law enforcement in tracking down and retrieving his car that same day.

On May 21^st, the Accord’s owner contacted the Orange, NJ Police Department to report that his vehicle had been stolen. The customer told police that he last saw his car when he parked it in his driveway the previous evening. Orange PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into their state and federal crime computers. The LoJack unit concealed in the Accord, which was installed at Planet Honda in Union, NJ, was then automatically activated.

A short time later, a patrol officer from the Essex County Sheriff’s Department picked up the homing signals coming from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. The officer tracked the vehicle to Springfield Ave. in Newark, where the Accord was recovered parked and undamaged. It was soon returned to its relieved owner.
