In this case, a Honda Accord stolen in New York was moved only a short distance- from Queens to Brooklyn, but the dense population in both areas would have made it extremely difficult for law enforcement to recover it without the assistance of the LoJack® system.

On May 22nd, 2013, the Accord’s owner contacted the New York Police 113rd precinct to report that her vehicle was stolen from in front of her house in the Rochdale section of Queens. The officers entered the vehicle’s information into the NYPD and national stolen vehicle computers. This automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed on the Accord, which was installed at Hillside Honda in Queens, NY.

Within a short while, officers from the 75th precinct in Brooklyn picked up the homing signal from the stolen Honda on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  The undamaged vehicle was found parked and abandoned on a residential street in the East New York section of Brooklyn. The owner later said she was elated that her vehicle was recovered so quickly, and she was grateful that she had LoJack installed on her vehicle when she purchased it, feeling that if it wasn’t for LoJack her vehicle may never have been recovered.
