The LoJack® system is the only recovery system that is operated directly by police to assist in the tracking and recovery of stolen cars, trucks, motorcycles, and equipment. Why is this important? It’s because, when a vehicle is tracked, there is no way of knowing what circumstances it will be found in. The thief or thieves may still be occupying the vehicle and they may be armed, so the best method is to have the recovery completed by members of law enforcement who are prepared to handle any situation.

On May 20th, 2013, the owners of a KIA Sephia contacted the El Paso County, CO Sheriff’s Office to report that their vehicle was stolen. A deputy verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into their state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the KIA, which was installed at Dale Spradley Chevrolet in Pueblo, CO.

A short while later, officers with the Colorado Springs PD and members of the Southern Colorado Auto Theft Task Force picked up the homing signals from the Sephia with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  The officers tracked the vehicle traveling in the area of Old Pueblo Highway and Hanover Road, where they stopped the vehicle and made one arrest. The undamaged KIA was soon returned to its very happy owners.
