In this case, as in many others, police air and ground units combine forces with the LoJack® System in order to swiftly track a stolen vehicle. On April 27th, 2013, the owner of a Mercedes Benz contacted the South Sacramento, CA office of the California Highway Patrol to report that their vehicle had been stolen. CHP verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into their state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the S320.

A short while later, the flight crew of a Fresno Police helicopter picked up the homing signals from the Mercedes with the LoJack tracking computer installed in the aircraft. The vehicle was spotted moving near downtown Fresno, and ground units were alerted. The vehicle was finally located parked near Crystal and Strother Avenues. After a brief surveillance, an adult male entered the vehicle and attempted to drive away. The patrol units quickly stopped the vehicle and arrested the suspect. The undamaged Mercedes was soon returned to its happy owner.
