It’s not only private vehicle owners who benefit from owning the LoJack® system. Recently, a used car dealer in Palmdale, California had a Pontiac Grand Prix stolen off the lot, and their local police, helped by the LoJack device installed at Power Chevrolet in Long Beach, CA, were able to recover it in just over an hour after activation.

On May 12th, 2013, the lot’s owners contacted the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department in Palmdale to report the Grand Prix had been stolen.  LASD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Pontiac.

A short while later, California flight officers picked up the homing signal from the Grand Prix. They notified ground units, who found the car parked and unoccupied. Officers soon observed a male and female enter the car. Upon exiting, the male was questioned and taken into custody. The Pontiac was soon returned to the dealership.
