Losing a set of keys is a major inconvenience– not only is it time consuming and expensive to replace them, but there is also the worry that someone will find them and use them to access and possibly steal your belongings. A Houston, TX resident had to deal with this sad situation when they lost their keys one evening and woke up the next day to find their Honda Civic missing.

On May 8th, 2013, the Civic’s owners contacted the Houston Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their driveway overnight. The keys had been misplaced during the previous evening. Houston PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into their state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Honda, which was installed at Goodson Honda North in Houston, TX.

A short while later, deputies from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department picked up the homing signals from the stolen Honda Civic on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The deputies tracked the vehicle to Splendora, where they stopped the car and took the driver into custody. The Civic was soon returned to its grateful owners.
