Construction and excavation businesses spend incredible amounts of money on the equipment they need to perform their work, which is why many of them choose to protect their machines with the LoJack® system.

On May 3rd, 2013, the owner of a construction company contacted the Houston Police Department to report that a 2012 Case Crawler Tractor, valued at $85,000, had been stolen from a construction site where it was last seen on May 1st. Houston PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into their state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the tractor, which was installed at Hi-Way Equipment Company in Houston, TX.

A short while later, deputies from the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Department and Texas State Troopers picked up the homing signals from the stolen tractor on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the machine to a vacant lot in Angleton, where it was parked and abandoned. The Case Crawler was soon returned its grateful owner.
