Leasing companies and other businesses often install the LoJack® System on the trucks and vans that they rent out, not only to assist police if the rental customers are theft victims, but also to provide backup if the renters do not return the vehicles when promised.

On April 25th, 2013, the manager of a home improvement store contacted the Bolingbrook, IL Police Department to report one of their vehicles missing.  The vehicle, a 2010 Ford Econoline Van had been rented on a 24 hour agreement and never returned.  After verifying the theft, Bolingbrook PD entered the vehicle information into their crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack unit installed in the van.

Police in Romeoville, IL picked up the homing signal from the stolen Ford and tracked it to a motel parking lot. Two suspects were arrested on scene, and the undamaged Econoline was soon returned to the rental facility.
