A test drive became a test of patience for this auto dealership in Wheat Ridge, CO, when the prospective buyers did not return with the vehicle. The car in question did pass one important test- there was a LoJack® device installed in it, so local police were able to retrieve it that same day.

On April 25th, 2013, the dealership staff contacted the Wheat Ridge PD to report the theft. The dealership subsequently learned that the identification used by the by the prospective purchaser was false. The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into their state and federal crime computers.  This action automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the stolen Honda, which was installed at Honda of Oxnard, CA.

A short while later, an Englewood PD officer picked up the homing signals from the Civic with the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol car, and tracked the Honda to South Broadway, where it was found unoccupied. BATTLE Auto Theft Task Force investigators conducted a surveillance to see if the suspects would return.  Their plan worked and police arrested both suspects, one of whom had several other arrest warrants. The Honda Civic was soon returned to the dealership.
