When we think about the possibility of becoming a crime target, we usually consider the perpetrator to be a nameless, faceless threat. All too often, it turns out to be someone we already know. In this next case, the owner of a Chevrolet Tahoe falls victim to an ex with a drug problem.

On April 28th, 2013, the Tahoe’s owner contacted Anaheim, CA Police to report her vehicle had been stolen. Anaheim PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into their state and federal crime computers, The LoJack device in the Tahoe, which was installed at Guaranty Chevrolet in Santa Ana, CA, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, Anaheim PD air flight officers picked up the homing signal from the Chevrolet. They located the vehicle parked in an alley, and observed a male enter the Tahoe and drive off. The air officers alerted ground units who stopped the truck and took the driver into custody. The suspect was an ex-boyfriend of the victim and in possession of methamphetamine. The undamaged vehicle was soon returned to its grateful owner.
