This case involves a car taken in the middle of the night. Even though the thieves had a bit of a head start because the victims were sleeping, the local police, aided by the LoJack® system, were still able to track the car down in less than an hour after activation.

On April 19th, 2013, these residents of Edgewood, WA discovered their Subaru Impreza was stolen during the night from their home.  The owners called the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, who verified the theft and entered the vehicle identification number into their state and federal crime computers. That process automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Subaru, which was installed at Mike Scarff Subaru in Auburn, WA.

Less than thirty minutes later, Auburn PD officers received the homing signal from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their patrol cars.  They quickly located the car in the 2900 block of Auburn Way South. It was abandoned and undamaged, and was soon returned to its happy owners
