When confronted by police, some auto thieves just give up, and others try to drive away, but the LoJack® System allows law enforcement to track the stolen vehicle wherever it goes until the suspect is apprehended and the vehicle retrieved.

On Monday morning, March 18th, 2013, the owner of a 2008 Ford F-250 pickup contacted the Miami-Dade Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their home in Palmetto Bay, FL. The responding officer entered the vehicle’s information entered into the state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack device concealed in the truck, which was installed at World Ford Pembroke Pines, FL.

A short while later, Miami-Dade PD officers picked up the homing signal from the stolen truck on their LoJack tracking computer installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers located the vehicle in a strip mall parking lot on NW 119th Avenue. Within a short period of time, the thief returned to the Ford and began to drive it away. The officers followed the truck and eventually got the driver to stop. The suspect was then arrested, and the F-250 was soon returned to its owners.
