Your local police use LoJack® PTCs, or Police Tracking Computers, to receive the homing signals given off when a LoJack unit is activated, to assist then in recovering stolen vehicles. In this next case, air and ground officers combine forces to quickly locate a stolen Ford truck.

On April 20th, 2013, the owners of a Ford F-250 pickup contacted the Del City, Oklahoma Police Department to report their truck was stolen from their residence. The Del City PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into their state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the truck, which was installed at Sunset Ford in Westminster, CA.

A short while later, a pilot with the Oklahoma Highway Aircraft Division picked up the homing signal from the stolen truck on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol aircraft.  He was able to locate the Ford in Oklahoma City, parked in front of a trailer in a mobile home park. The OHP pilot requested ground assistance from the Oklahoma City Police Department. OCPD officers responded and quickly located the stolen truck, along with a second Ford truck stolen in a separate incident. Eight suspects at the scene were arrested on various charges that included possession of stolen vehicles, numerous drug violations and outstanding warrants. The F-250 was undamaged and soon returned to its owners.
