The purpose of the LoJack® System is to assist police in tracking your stolen car, truck, SUV or motorcycle quickly, before the thief can harm it in any way. In this particular case in California, a 2013 Ford Explorer was recovered in only six minutes after the LoJack unit was activated!

On April 24th, 2013, the Explorer’s owners contacted the Los Angeles Police Department-North Hollywood Division to report that their vehicle was stolen. LAPD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This action automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Ford, which was installed at Galpin Ford in North Hills, CA.

Just a few minutes later, officers from LAPD-Olympic Division picked up the silent homing signal from the stolen Explorer on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their patrol vehicle. The officers tracked the vehicle to the area of New Hampshire Ave and Beverly Blvd, where it was parked and unoccupied. The Explorer, which was valued at $38,288, was soon returned to its grateful owners.
