Illegal ‘chop shops’, where stolen vehicles are taken apart so their parts can be sold, are appearing more and more frequently all over the United States.  One way to stop one of these shops from chopping YOUR vehicle is to have a LoJack® system installed so your local police can track it down before it’s taken apart.
On April 18th, 2013, the owners of a Chevy TrailBlazer contacted the Atlanta, GA Police to report that their vehicle had been stolen from their home. The Atlanta PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into their state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the TrailBlazer, which was installed at Power Chevrolet in Hawthorne, CA.

A short while later, the Atlanta Police Auto Theft Task Force began receiving homing signals from the stolen Chevy on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the vehicle to an abandoned house that was later discovered to be a ‘chop shop’ where three suspects were in the process of taking the TrailBlazer apart. The three were taken into custody, and the SUV was soon returned to its owners.
