It’s a pretty scary feeling when you can’t find your vehicle keys…and then you realize that you may have left them in your vehicle. Ever scarier is when you go to your vehicle to retrieve them, but it’s gone. The ‘Windy City’ resident in our next story was ‘blown away’ by how fast police and the LoJack® system were able to retrieve his stolen car after this happened to him- in only 35 minutes!

On the night of April 12th, 2013, the owner of a 2005 Toyota Sienna Truck realized that he had accidently left his keys in the vehicle, and when he came outside to get them the truck had been stolen from his residence in Chicago, Illinois. He immediately called the Chicago Police Department, who verified the vehicle as stolen and entered the truck’s information into their local and federal crime computers.  This automatically activated the LoJack device hidden within the Sienna, which was installed at Bronx Auto Group in Bronx, NY.

A short time later, officers from the Chicago PD 6th District began receiving homing signals from the Toyota on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. They were able to locate the truck on the south side of Chicago, being driven by the suspected thief, a juvenile, who was immediately taken into custody. The undamaged Sienna was soon returned to its grateful owner.
