When a stolen car is located by the police using the LoJack® System, the officers often enter a situation that involves more than simply retrieving the vehicle. The innocent homeowners who got a ‘visit’ from a suspected auto thief in this case were likely glad that the vehicle in question had a LoJack unit, so police could arrive on the scene quickly to offer them protection.

On April 10th, 2013, the owners of an Acura Integra contacted Whittier, California police to report their vehicle had been stolen.  Whittier PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into their state and federal crime computers. The LoJack device concealed in the car, which was installed at AutoNation in Torrance, CA, was then automatically activated.

Within a few minutes, deputies from the East Los Angeles station were picking up the homing signal from the stolen Acura on the LoJack tracking computer installed in their patrol vehicles.  The car was located by LAPD Hollenbeck police, who noticed two males running from the vehicle.  One of the suspects was detained while the driver, who was on probation, ran into a private residence.  When he exited the home, police took him into custody. The Integra was soon returned to its owner.
