Auto thefts are not always perpetrated by strangers. Sometimes, it’s a relative or friend who steals your car. No matter who it is taking your vehicle without permission, it’s a great advantage to have the LoJack® system to help the police get your car back quickly and safely.

On April 5th, 2013, the owner of a 2013 Ford Mustang contacted the New York Police Department’s 45th precinct to report his vehicle was stolen when an acquaintance took the keys from his Bronx hotel room. The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into their state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Mustang, which was installed at DiBlasi Ford in Corona, NY.

Just minutes after activation, officers from NYPD’s 46th precinct picked up the homing signals from the car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked and spotted the occupied vehicle, and attempted to stop the Mustang which resulted in a short pursuit. The suspect was ultimately apprehended and placed under arrest. The Mustang was soon returned to its owner.
