It’s a great feeling to look out your window and see a brand new car sitting in your driveway. However, if you take a peek and your vehicle is not where it should be, those good vibes can soon turn to dread. One way to help relieve that angst is to install a LoJack® device when you buy your car.

On April 16th, 2013, the owner of a 2013 Honda CRV contacted the Baltimore City Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from West Baltimore Street in Baltimore, Maryland. At the time of theft, the vehicle was valued in excess of $26,000.

Baltimore City PD officers verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into their state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Honda, which was installed at Brown’s Honda City in Glen Burnie, MD.

Within a short period of time, detectives from the Regional Auto Theft Team and flight officers in the Baltimore City Aviation Unit picked up the homing signals from the stolen Honda on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles and helicopter. The detectives tracked the vehicle to South Caton Avenue in Baltimore, where ground units stopped the moving vehicle and arrested the driver. The CR-V was soon returned to its relieved owner.
