Auto dealership employees are well versed in the benefits of installing a LoJack® on your vehicle, not only because of their training and experience, but sometimes because they have seen firsthand how the LoJack System assists police when a vehicle is stolen from their own lot!

On February 23rd, 2013, an auto dealership in Orem, Utah discovered that a 2007 Lexus SC-430 was missing and contacted the Orem Police Department to report the vehicle was stolen. Orem PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into their state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the car, which was installed at Lexus of Chandler, Arizona.

A short while later, police officers in Ontario, California picked up the homing signal from the Lexus on their LoJack tracking computers in their Air Unit. They began tracking the vehicle and also contacted ground units, who were able to stop the vehicle and arrest two suspects.

It was later learned that the suspects had taken a test drive a couple of days prior to the theft, and stole the vehicle using a duplicate key.  They had also replaced the license plates. Neither of these actions deterred the LoJack System from tracking the car, which was soon returned to the dealership.
