How long is your average movie going experience? If you consider buying tickets, selecting snacks, choosing your seats, watching a few coming attractions, and then the film itself, the whole event probably takes between two and three hours. This is not very long- but it is enough time for an auto thief to steal your vehicle.

On April 10th, 2013, the owner of a Chevrolet Impala contacted the DeKalb County, Georgia Police to report that their vehicle was stolen from their home in Decatur, GA after they went out to see a movie at a local mall theater.

The DeKalb County PD verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into their state and federal crime computers. The LoJack® unit, installed in the Impala at Davis Chevrolet in Houston, TX, was then automatically activated.

A short while later, DeKalb County officers picked up the homing signals from the stolen car on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their police vehicles. The vehicle was located abandoned on a dead-end street and returned to its owner in good condition, bringing a happy ending to an event that could have been a real disaster.
