If you were asked to list places to park your car that you consider safe, a church parking lot on a Sunday morning might be near the top.  An auto thief, however, will take a vehicle when the opportunity arises, regardless of the time, day or location. The victim in this story was lucky, though, because when the thief stole the truck, he stole the LoJack® System along with it.

On February 10th, 2013, the owner of a 2010 Dodge Ram walked out of church in Longmont, CO only to discover that his truck had been stolen.  He reported the theft to the Longmont Police Department, who entered the vehicle information into their state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack unit concealed in the Ram, which was installed by Prestige Chrysler Dodge in Longmont, CO.

A short while later, officers with the Denver PD picked up the homing signals from the stolen Dodge with the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles.  The officers tracked the vehicle to an area near Sloan’s Lake in Denver, and found the truck abandoned. Recovery of the Ram took less than 30 minutes after the LoJack device was first activated, and the truck was soon returned to its owner.
