On March 7, 2013, Santa Monica Police received a report that a Lexus RX300 was stolen from a mall parking lot. The police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into their state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack unit in the Lexus, which was installed at Lexus of Santa Monica, CA.
Within just a few minutes of activation, a Deputy from the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Lakewood Station picked up the homing signals from the stolen Lexus on the LoJack tracking computer installed in his patrol vehicle. He tracked the car to a residence in the area of 215th Street and Pioneer Ave. where he observed one male suspect exiting the stolen vehicle. The deputy took the suspect into custody. The undamaged RX300 was soon returned to its happy owner.
