When is a secured parking lot not really secure? It’s when your vehicle is taken from it without your consent.  It’s pretty certain that this owner will feel very ‘insecure’ about parking his truck and leaving the keys in it after living through the experience described below.

On April 8, 2013, the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado left his vehicle with the keys inside in what he thought was a secured parking area at his place of business. However, when he returned to the lot at the end of the day, the truck was gone. He immediately contacted the California Highway Patrol in Tracy, CA to report the theft.

The vehicle information was entered into the California Stolen Vehicle System as well as the national system, NCIC. This automatically activated the LoJack® unit concealed in the vehicle, which was installed at Roseville Toyota in Roseville, CA.

A short while later, CHP Tracy officers began to receive a signal from the Chevy from their onboard LoJack tracking computer.  The officers located the pickup parked and abandoned in a rural farm area. The Silverado was undamaged and quickly returned to its owner.
