District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department Recover Stolen Toyota Camry with the Help of the LoJack® System

On March 26, 2013, the owner of a Toyota Camry contacted the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen during a burglary at their residence in Washington, DC.

DC Metro police verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers. This automatically activated the LoJack® unit installed in the Camry at Jim Coleman Toyota in Bethesda, Maryland.

A short while later, officers from the District of Columbia Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, DC picked up the homing signals from the stolen Toyota on the LoJack tracking computers installed in their patrol vehicles. The officers tracked the vehicle to the 3500 block of Ordway Street NW in Washington, DC, where they observed the car parked and unoccupied. The Camry was recovered by police and soon returned to its owner.
