LoJack Aids Newark Police in Recovering Toyota Camry Stolen in Irvington, NJ

On February 19, 2013, the owner of a 2012 Toyota Camry contacted the Irvington Police Department to report that her vehicle had been stolen. The customer reported to the police that the vehicle was last seen three days earlier, on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at approximately 5:30 PM. The vehicle was parked at friend’s residence on Berkley Terrace in the City of Irvington, NJ.
The Irvington Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Camry.
A short time later, a police officer from the Newark Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the Toyota Camry on the Police Tracking Computer installed in his patrol vehicle. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computer, the officer tracked the vehicle to an apartment complex where the Toyota Camry was recovered, abandoned and undamaged.
The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Toyota Camry on May 24, 2012, at Hudson Toyota in Jersey City, New Jersey.
