On Wednesday, February 20, 2013, the owner of a 2013 Hyundai Veloster traveled from Maryland to Delaware, parked his vehicle in the Dover Downs Casino parking lot and entered the casino. When he returned to the parking lot a short time later, he discovered that the Hyundai had been stolen and called 911 to report the crime.

An officer from the Dover Police Department was dispatched to the area, and after verifying the theft he prepared a stolen vehicle report. This information was then entered into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Hyundai.

Later that day, Dover Police became aware that a LoJack Reply Code was being broadcast from the area of the Dover Mall on Route 1 in Dover, Delaware. Following the directional and signal strength cues on the LoJack Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles, the Dover officers quickly located the stolen vehicle, parked and abandoned in a customer parking area. The vehicle was processed for physical evidence and the owner notified of the recovery.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the 2013 Hyundai Veloster on February 15, 2013 at Sheehy Nissan of Waldorf, Maryland.
