On February 11, 2013, the owner of a 2007 Honda Accord contacted the Newark Police Department to report that his vehicle had been stolen. The customer told police that the vehicle was last seen parked on Clinton Avenue.

The Newark Police Department verified the theft and entered the vehicle information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Honda Accord.

In less than an hour, a police officer from the Union County Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Honda Accord on the Police Tracking Computer installed in his patrol vehicle. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computer, the officer tracked the vehicle to the city of Elizabeth, where the vehicle was recovered abandoned and undamaged.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the 2007 Honda Accord on March 6, 2010 at Planet Honda in Union, New Jersey.
