On February 6, 2013, Sunbelt Rentals in San Antonio sent a delivery truck to a construction site to retrieve a rented 2011 Melroe Skid Steer Loader from a customer. When they arrived, they found the loader missing. The construction foreman was notified and a theft report was immediately made with the San Antonio Police Department.

San Antonio Police Department verified the theft and entered the loader’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the loader.

Early the next morning, officers from the San Antonio Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen skid steer front loader on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the signal to Loop 410 and Perrien Bietel, where they found the parked and abandoned loader.

Sunbelt Rental was notified and the loader was released into their custody. The total value of the recovered assets was approximately $35,000.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the 2011 Melroe Skid Steer Loader on February 15, 2011 at Sunbelt Rentals in San Antonio, Texas.
