On January 22, 2013, the underage son of the owner took this Toyota Camry without permission from their residence in Des Moines.  Even after being contacted by his mother and police by cell phone, he refused to return the car.  Des Moines Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle identification number into the state and federal crime computers. That process automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Toyota.

Just nineteen minutes later, a King County Sheriff sergeant and three deputies received the silent LoJack homing signal transmitting from the stolen Camry on the Police Tracking Computer installed in their patrol cars.  Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computer, they tracked the vehicle to South 195th & International Boulevard South (Angle Lake Park) where the car was stopped.  Three juveniles in the car were taken into custody.  The car was purchased used and the current owner did not know the Camry was equipped with LoJack.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this Toyota Camry in March of 1997 at Action Toyota in Littleton, Massachusetts.
