On December 23, 2012, the owner of a 2012 Honda Accord contacted the Newark Police Department to report that his vehicle had been stolen from in front of his home on Adams Street in the City of Newark.

The Newark Police Department verified the theft and entered the Honda’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short time later, a patrol officer from the Essex County Sheriff’s Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Honda Accord on the Police Tracking Computer installed in his patrol vehicle. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computer, the officer tracked the vehicle to Patten Place in the City of Newark, where he found the undamaged vehicle abandoned on the street.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the 2012 Honda Accord on August 20, 2011 at Open Road Honda in Edison, New Jersey.
