On December 14, 2012, the owner of a 2001 Subaru Forrester contacted the Prince Georges County Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from the 11000 block of Beltsville Drive in Beltsville, Maryland.

Prince Georges County Police verified the theft and entered the Subaru’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short while later, officers from the Prince Georges County Police Department picked up the silent Lojack homing signals from the stolen Subaru on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers the officers tracked the vehicle to the 10000 block of Baltimore Avenue in the Beltsville area of Prince Georges County. The vehicle was located by the officers, parked and unoccupied. The officers recovered the undamaged vehicle and returned it to the owner.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Subaru in October of 2000 at Tischer Auto Park in Silver Spring, Maryland.
