On December 13, 2005 the owner of a 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer SUV contacted the Harris County Sheriff’s Department to report that their vehicle was stolen from their driveway sometime during the previous night.

Harris County deputies verified the theft and entered the vehicle’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the Chevrolet Trailblazer.

A short while later, officers from the Houston Police Department and Humble Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Chevrolet Trailblazer on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the Trailblazer to a large apartment complex parking lot, where the vehicle was legally parked and abandoned. It appeared the vehicle had been used for transportation and then abandoned. The vehicle, valued at approximately $15,000, was recovered.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Chevrolet Trailblazer on December 4, 2007 at Lone Star Chevrolet in Houston, Texas.
