On Oct. 20, 2012, the owners of a 2003 Volkswagen Jetta contacted the Denver Police Department to report that their vehicle was stolen.

Denver officers verified the theft and entered the Volkswagen’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the VW.  LoJack is the only theft recovery system that is directly operated by law enforcement and this interface is seamless and instantaneous.

A short while later, officers with the Denver Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Jetta with the LoJack Police Tracking Computers (PTCs) that are installed in patrol vehicles and aircraft.  The LoJack PTC provides officers with on-board information which permits them to locate the stolen vehicle quickly and with an increased margin of safety.

Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack PTCs, the officers tracked the vehicle to the 100 block of East Dakota Avenue. There, they found the unoccupied vehicle, which they took into custody until it could be returned to the grateful owners. The vehicle was valued at approximately $7,750.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in this VW Jetta in July of 2003 at McDonald Auto Group in Littleton, Colorado.
