On November 15, 2012, the owner of a 2000 Honda Civic EX contacted the Renton Police Department to report the vehicle stolen from the 11400 block of SE 186th Street some time during the previous night. Renton Police verified the theft and entered the vehicle identification number into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

Less than twenty minutes later, Renton Police and a King County deputy received the silent LoJack homing signal transmitting from the stolen Honda on the Police Tracking Computer installed in their patrol cars.  Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computer, the car was located in the 11400 block of SE 164th Street in Renton.  Another stolen car from Kent, a 1995 Acura Integra, was also recovered at this residence. Occupants were interviewed and the information was given to detectives for follow-up.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the Honda Civic in June of 2007 at the owner’s request when he purchased it at Honda Auto Center in Bellevue, Washington.
