On November 14, 2012, the owner of a 2009 Acura TL was warming up his vehicle unattended in his driveway.  When he returned to his vehicle, he found it missing and immediately contacted the Arlington Police Department to report it stolen.

Arlington Police verified the theft and entered the Acura’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short while later, officers from the Dallas Police Department picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Acura on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their patrol vehicles. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the officers tracked the stolen Acura to an above-ground parking garage in downtown Dallas. Officers were able to locate the undamaged vehicle, parked on the fourth level of the garage.

This remains an ongoing investigation.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the 2009 Acura TL in October of 2008 at Vandergriff Acura in Arlington, Texas.
