On October 31, 2012, the owner of a 2006 Infiniti G35 met up with an acquaintance, and they drove over to the local liquor store.  The owner went inside the store and left his vehicle running with his acquaintance inside. When he returned minutes later, he discovered his vehicle and the acquaintance missing, and immediately contacted the Dallas Police Department to report the Infiniti stolen.

Dallas Police verified the theft and entered the Infiniti’s information into the state and federal crime computers, which automatically activated the LoJack transponder concealed in the vehicle.

A short while later, the Dallas Police helicopter picked up the silent LoJack homing signals from the stolen Infiniti on the Police Tracking Computers installed in their helicopter. Following the directional and audible cues from the LoJack computers, the helicopter tracked the vehicle to the 8100 block of Viola, where they observed the vehicle parked on the street.  The helicopter directed patrol officers to this location.  Officers contacted witnesses, who stated that the suspect was trying to sell them the stolen Infiniti for a couple of hundred dollars.  When the suspect saw the police helicopter, he took the battery out of the Infiniti and fled on foot.  Officers were able to identify the suspect and an arrest warrant is pending.

This stolen Infiniti was recovered with no damage.

The LoJack Vehicle Recovery System was installed in the 2006 Infiniti in January of 2006 at the Crest Auto Group in Plano, Texas.
